ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Cecilia "Pudge" Kleinkauf, a retired university professor and attorney, has owned and operated her instruction and guide service, Women's Flyfishing®, for over twenty-five of the forty-plus years she has lived and fished in Alaska. During that time she has introduced countless women and couples to the joys of fly-fishing all around Alaska for salmon, trout, grayling, char, and pike, as well as to saltwater locations in Mexico, and other destination fisheries in Argentina and Sweden. Together with her photographic collaborator, Michael DeYoung, Pudge has authored three books. Her first was a 2004 Benjamin Franklin Award-winner, Fly-fishing Women Explore Alaska, the second was River Girls: Fly-fishing for Young Women, which took the first place gold award in the same competition in 2007. Her third book, Fly-fishing for Alaska’s Arctic Grayling: Sailfish of the North, has been acclaimed as the first-ever book written on this special fish of the far north. Pudge is also a contributing editor for Fish Alaska Magazine. Women's Flyfishing® is a member of Trout Unlimited’s Outfitters, Guides, and Business Members Program, and of the Guides Association of the Federation of Fly-Fishers. Pudge is a member of the Alaska Fly-Fishers, TU, and FFF, and is also one of the founding members of the International Women Fly-fishers. A pro staff for several fly-fishing companies, Pudge is a featured "Explorer" on the Alaska Magazine Television series showing on PBS television
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER:
Named "Master of Outdoor Lifestyle" by Digital Photo Pro Magazine Michael DeYoung is a commercial photographer, adventurer, and workshop instructor. He specializes in adventure and landscape photography for advertising and editorial clients. The former longtime Alaskan has photographed extensively for the Alaska tourism industry and spent months on adventures of his own throughout Alaska and the Yukon. DeYoung’s images appear regularly in national calendars, magazines, catalogs, visitor guides and many other places. He has photographed three other books with author Pudge Kleinkauf. Michael and his wife and business partner, Lauri, live and run their business in a sustainable home office powered 100% by solar energy near the ski town of Taos, New Mexico.
